This project involved an on-going participatory component in which the dark gray field of the painting surrounding the central figure is slowly being covered by a meticulously painted field of black dots. The dots are being applied by the artist Time Lowly and other participants whenever the painting is exhibited. A record of the number of dots is kept on the side of the panel: one hatch mark for every 100 dots. This performance component of the work only takes place during the course of the work's exhibition when Tim is present.
