Abstract: The Vulnerability of Public Land: Bears Ears
Thematically, I have gravitated towards public land and the national park system for the past two years. My studies have given me a fierce and profound love for public land and the protection of outdoor spaces. The concept of the wilderness and spaces that have stood the test of time captivate me: There’s nothing more fragile on this earth than the landscape we live in and walk on. We don’t acknowledge the landscape as something that’s older, wiser, and more essential to life than ourselves as humans, but we need the outdoors: need it to realize how small we are and how powerful an influence we wield. Conservation and caring for the place we call home is important to me, and my goal is to translate a fierce love for public outdoor spaces and a drive for advocacy, protection, and nurturing of landscape.
